A native to New York, Julie ventured up to Davis, California, where she attended college and received her dual bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Material Science Engineering.  It was experiences at the University of California, Davis that led her to a love for art and craft.

Not far from the college town, she permanently relocated to the basin of the Sierra Foothills in 1993 where she received her first professional career assignment in Mechanical Engineering.  Coincidentally, she met and married her husband, also a Mechanical Engineer. The two enjoy spending the weekends doing home improvements, gardening, and especially spending time with their two children..

Though her fiber art was a part time passion during her engineering career, Julie spent sleepless nights creating. Soon after, she left the high tech industry to start her family and pursue her love for art.
